We visit: Shanghai, Guilin, Xian, Beijing

This tour is designed for the traveler who, in a short time, wishes to see the best China has to offer. You will start your tour in Shanghai, China’s vibrant commercial heart. Moving on to Guilin where you will cruise on the picturesque Li River to view the fantastic limestone mountains for which the area is renowned. Flying on to Xian you will see the Terracotta Warriors archaeological site and other significant attractions. You will finally spend the last five days in Beijing taking in the famous landmarks.

A Taste of Thailand

We visit: Bangkok, Chiang Mai

This trip to Thailand - the land of tuk-tuks, elephants and Buddhas - firstly we explore some of the famous tourist sites in the bustling capital Bangkok, such as the Grand Palace and the river market canals. We then visit busy bustling Damnoen Saduak Floating Market floating market before flying to Chiang Mai, Thailand's jewel of the north, for our trekking. Cultural highlights of Chiang Mai will be the holy Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep Temple, 3,520 feet above sea level, and visited by Buddhist pilgrims all year round, and night shopping in a bazaar. Finally we return to Bangkok.

Wonders of Japan & China

Duration: 14 nights/15 days

We visit: Tokyo, Hakone, Kyoto, Shanghai, Xian, Guilin, Beijing

The history, mystery and charm of Japan are yours to discover on this journey. Walk the tree-lined path to Kamakura’s Great Buddha and stroll the beautiful gardens of the HaseKannon Temple. Take the Komagataki Ropeway to view iconic Fuji. In Kyoto, the former imperial capital of Japan, visit NijoCastle, completed in 1603 as the official residence of Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu. You also visit Kinkakuji, the Temple of the Gold Pavilion, and the Heian Shrine & Garden. A full day of leisure in Kyoto gives you time to enjoy the many temples, shrines, palaces, and pagodas at your own pace.

The next part of your trip takes you to China. First we take you to fabulous Shanghai, China’s pulsating commercial heart. Moving on to Guilin there is a cruise on the picturesque Li River, viewing the fantastic limestone mountains for which the area is renowned. Then on to Xian, the ancient Tang capital.Here you will see the Terracotta Warriors archeological site and other features of the country’s fabulous past. While in Beijing walk along the Great Wall, see the Ming Tombs and Tiananmen Square, explore the splendors of the Forbidden City and wander through the grounds of the Summer Palace. All this together with spectacular evening entertainments and a genuine Peking Duck dinner will make this a tour to remember.

West Along the Silk Road

We visit: Xian, Lanzhou, Xiahe, Jiayuguan, Dunhuang, Turpan, Kashgar, Urumqi, Beijing

In the footsteps of the great caravans of old you will traverse the China leg of the Silk Road from Xian (ancient Changan) to Kashgar, China’s westernmost city. The same route utilised by merchants and traders to move goods between China and Rome more than 2000 years ago. You will see the fascinating and unique monuments and treasures of Xian; traverse vast distances of grassland and deserts; meet local Muslim and Tibetan people; visit markets, mosques, tombs and holy sites (grottoes and caves), some dating back more than 1500 years, and some housing astonishingly beautiful murals and other artefacts; you will visit the ruins of ancient cities that succumbed to the incessant warfare of the region over hundreds of years; you will visit fascinating museums seeing relics including the mummified bodies of ancient Caucasian people who once roamed the region, and you will visit great markets and bazaars reminiscent of bygone ages.
