Arrive Tokyo

On arrival into Tokyo transfer to hotel.

Tokyo

Morning visit Meiji Shinto Shrine which is dedicated to the deified spirits of Emperor Meiji and his wife, Empress Shoken. See the Imperial Palace, the residence of Japan’s Imperial Family. Enjoy a Traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony, and then go to Senso-ji Temple, popularly known as AsakusaKannon which is Tokyo’s most sacred and spectacular temple and visit its famous Nakamise Arcade by boat. And Explore Akihabara Electronics District. (B/D)

Tokyo-Nikko-Tokyo

Travel to Nikko, a town at the entrance to Nikko National Park, most famous for Toshogu, a UNESCO World Heritage site, features ornate, colorful, architecture and lavishly decorated wood carvings influenced by China, and as such is a unique and exciting Japan attraction well worth visiting. Return to Tokyo for overnight.  (B/L)

Tokyo-Kamakura-Hakone

Travel by coach to Hakone, stop at Kamakura to see the Great Buddha, located on the grounds of the Kotokuin Temple. At a height of 43.8ft, the bronze statue of Amida Buddha is the second largest Buddha statue in Japan.Arrive in Hakone, the city famous for the view of nearby Mt. Fuji, which is the highest mountain in Japan at 12,388 ft. Enjoy a cruise on Lake Ashi and visit Owakudani Valley for a good view of Mt. Fuji. Tonight you will enjoy a traditional Japanese dinner. Hakone-Takayama

Today you will travel to Takayama by coach. (B)

Takayama-Kanazawa

Start your day with a visit toTakayama Jinya which was in official use until 1969, and is now open to the public as a museum. Travel by coach to visit Shirakawa-Go Village. Continue to Kanazawa via Kokayama Village where you will see a paper making demonstration. (B)

Kanazawa

Morning visit Kenroku-en, one of Japan’s “great three” gardens. Then take a visit to the famed Nagamachi Samurai warrior. In the afternoon, you will visit Higashi-Chaya Street and the Former Guest House “Shima”. (B)

Kanazawa-Kyoto

Today you will visit Geisha House district before taking the special train Express Thunder Bird to Kyoto. Upon arrival in Kyoto, visit Philosophers Walk along the canal in Kyoto. It is a pleasant stroll alongside the canal, past numerous temples and old wooden houses.

This evening you will be entertained in Kyoto “Gion Corner”. (B/L)

Kyoto-Shigaraki-Kyoto

Explore northwest Kyoto and view the Zen rock garden at Ryoan-ji and the glimmering legacy of medieval Japan, Kinkaku-ji, also known as the Golden Pavilion. Drive to rural Shigaraki, where a world-class art collection awaits at I.M. Pei’s stunning Miho Museum, founded by Koyama Mihoko, Japan’s most notable female art collector. (B/L)

Kyoto

Morning visit to Kodai-ji and take part in a tea ceremony.Enjoy a walk at Sanjusangendo Temple and visit Kiyomizu Temple, best known for its massive verandah, 42ft above the hillside below. The verandah affords a nice view of the numerous cherry and maple trees below, as well as of the city of Kyoto.  Later stroll along Gojozaka Hills, an area full of pottery studios. In the afternoon you will explore Nishiki Market and enjoy a farewell dinner tonight. (B/D)

You will be transferred to the airport for your flight home. (B)
